英語を話すファン さんより

On behalf of the English-speaking world, I would like to congratulate Ms. Uehashi on the 20th anniversary of the Moribito series! Though only the first two books have been translated into English, I have read them both multiple times, and watched the anime series more times than I can count. I bought the manga and had them shipped overseas, and I watched the NHK drama every week after it came out, even though there were no subtitles. I cannot get enough of this world, of these characters, of the rich mythology and diverse cultures that the Moribito series has brought to life. I'm even learning Japanese so that I can read the rest of the books! So often people in the Western world think that fantasy is Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and other European-based stories, but meanwhile there is THIS series, which is just as good and as epic as any of the English fantasy stories out there. I was so upset when I found out Scholastic wasn't going to translate the entire series. I still hold out hope that one day we in the United States will be able to enjoy all of Balsa's world. She's the best female character in all of anime, in my opinion! In fact, I never watched any anime before a friend introduced me to Moribito, and since then (almost ten years ago now) I have watched and rewatched the series, and it became a gateway for anime as a whole. It also inspired me to write my own stories (and fan stories!), and got me interested in Japanese culture in a way I wouldn't have if I had never known Moribito existed. Basically, I just want to thank you for creating such an incredible world, wonderful characters, exciting stories, and sharing them with the world. Thank you! Congratulations, and I hope that when the 30th anniversary rolls around, there will be even more to celebrate.
